Dr. Alan Wilson
Alan Wilson’s experience in maintenance and asset management developed at Unilever in East Africa, and then at Guinness, the brewers in London, where he was responsible for managing the maintenance and project activities of the in-house and contract personnel at the London Brewery. He proceeded to being responsible to Guinness Overseas for project managing the design, procurement and build of new and existing brewery installations in Nigeria and the Cameroons.
As a Chief Engineer within the operations arm of consultants WS Atkins, Alan headed the maintenance management activities with clients including the Royal Navy, BP, Kodak, British Airways. He proceeded as director of his own company, and has experience of industrial and facilities consultancy services in project and asset management work for clients including Shell, Ineos, and Chevron. More recently he carried out marketing exercises in Hong Kong on Asset Management – ISO 55001/PAS55. He subsequently assisted in completing a new rail project in Sydney Australia.
In Saudi Arabia, he headed a team of Architects, Engineers and Quantity Surveyors from three UK companies for the Inspection and completion of Hospital Refurbishment and Replacement Projects for fifteen hospitals in Saudi Arabia; and additionally the design and completion of an Asset Management Audit for the Government Authorities throughout Saudi Arabia. Alan has completed three books on ‘Asset Maintenance Management’, published in the New York, Beijing and Riyadh, and is currently completing one more. He is a member of the British Standards Institute and is a liaison between the ‘EFNMS’ and ‘OMaintec’ (of the Arabic speaking Nations).
